Oct 09 - FOOTBALL SUCCESS FOR MILEFIELD
Congratulations to our two football teams who competed in a mini competition at Dorothy Hyman Centre on Monday 12th Octobe. A team of boys and a team of girls competed against Brierley, Ladywood, Cherrydale, Birkwood and Shafton Primary Schools.
The girls team put in some excellent performances and in 5 matches never conceded a single goal! WOW! The girls team ended up in second place in the competition, only failing to secure first place by the narrowest of margins.
The boys team also proved to be a formidable force. In their first game they drew 1-1 against Shafton - unfortunately having a winning strike by Aiden Twigg disallowed for offside. (A dispute followed as there were no offsides!! - the goal however did not stand). From then on, the boys went on to win every other game and ended up in first place, winning the competition.
They will now go on to represent our region in the finals which take place at Barnsley Football Club on Tuesday 20th November (afternoon). We would really like lots of parents/friends/family to come along and cheer us on - so please put the date in your diary!
WELL DONE TO BOTH TEAMS - FANTASTIC RESULTS
