Milefield Primary School

Engage, Inspire, Empower, Learn

At Milefield primary, our school vision of Engage, Inspire, Empower and Learn is integrated throughout all areas of the curriculum. We aim to embed key Literacy and Mathematical skills in all areas of learning. Children have high expectations placed on them by staff and we expect them to keep challenging themselves to learn more. We aim to hook children into their learning by discussing topics with them and allowing them to direct their learning.

Skills are key to our curriculum and our skills-based approach allows learners to build on skills from EYFS up to and including Y6. Pupils are taught in a similar way to their Literacy/Maths lessons so it is a process they are accustomed to. Our subject pages are in the process of being developed including videos and photographs of your children's learning.  Please bear with us at this time and keep checking back.

If you would like to know any further information about our curriculum in school, please see each Key Stage's page or ask your child's class teacher/TA. If you can assist us in any way with our current curriculum learning, please do not hesitate to speak to a teacher.

Welcome to 2020/21

We follow the National curriculum objectives which can be found here:

From these, our school uses a skills-based curriculum which allows pupils to build on learning in previous years. We then plan themed learning around subjects in the curriculum/ children's interests where possible.

We believe in life experiences for our pupils and aim to provide these through first-hand visits and visitors to schools.

Here is a link to our current overview for EYFS-Y6 in the wider curriculum. We aim to update this half-termly when we have spoken to children about their interests...   Curriculum overview 2019-20
